Niagara Falls Hot Tub Covers

The spectacular and famous set of falls on the Niagara River where Lake Erie drains into Lake Ontario is the largest of its kind in world. This set is made up three individual falls known as Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. To move from one set of falls to the next, you can venture the beautiful Rainbow Bridge or Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, traveling from Niagara Falls Ontario to Niagara Falls New York. The most magnificent spectacle is Horseshoe Falls which is more than 53 meters at its highest point, 790 meters wide and accounts for nearly 90% of the over 5.7 million liters per minute at its peak. They say that 50,000 years from now the falls will cease to exist due to the rapid rate of erosion. Niagara Falls erosion rate was over 3 feet per year which has since been reduced to 1 foot per year through the diversion of water flow through giant movable gates, known as weirs, to large hydroelectric plants powering parts of the province and US states. The erosion is so fierce that it is estimated nearly 60 tonnes per minute of finely ground sediment is produced by the river which produces its greenish colour.

Tourism here became popular during the 18th century and people from all over the world make their way here to see its beauty. Nearly 28 million tourists make their way to the falls each year. The falls have not only been made famous by their sheer magnitude, but also for the many daredevil stunts that have taken place here. The first known person to survive the plunge was the Yankee Leapster, Sam Patch who jumped from a high tower into the gorge in 1829. There have been 15 known attempts since then, even though it is illegal, to go over the falls in a barrel or homemade contraption, some surviving and some not. There have even been known survivors that have gone over the falls with nothing at all. Other attempts of feat include crossing the gorge on tightropes or swimming across the rapids below.

The best way to take the falls in is the Maid of the Mist boat cruise that takes you into the rapids below. This tour has been making the voyage since 1846 and can only be described as breathtaking. Grab your slick because you’re going to get wet. After the chilling adventure, you’ll be wanting to get back to your hotel and pull back the hot tub cover for a quick warm up before heading out on the town. Walk the beautiful fully kept gardens of Queen Victoria Park with its many platforms for views of the falls. The Skyon Tower, standing 160 meters over the falls, includes 2 restaurants and an observation deck for another perspective of their great formation. Jump onto any part of the 56 kilometers of Niagara River Recreational Trail to view many historical sites of the War of 1812.
