Things really get rocking at the Waterfront Festival with attendances reaching well over 100,000. The For the Love of the Arts Festival celebrates sharing physical space for cultural and art groups and shows off arts & crafts, dancing, acting and musical groups from all over the region. And if shopping is your thing, enjoy the summer version of Midnight Madness in the hot and humid month of July. This event brings in visitors from all over Southern Ontario and allows retailers and local shops to showcase sales and new products, from replacement hot tub covers to top brand name clothing, while live performances are taking place on the streets.
Outside of the festivals, the Oakville community continues to promote arts and culture. The Oakville Arts Council is a not-for-profit group that serves the artists. They host events, training and promotion for well over 300 artists allowing them to share their talents with the community and beyond. the Oakville Center for the Performing Arts hosts live performances by local groups as well as international performers. You’ll also find the amazing Oakville Symphony Orchestra and the Ballet Company here several times a year.
You’ll find over 60 soccer fields and two full size indoor pitches in Oakville. Take in a game or two by the most elite team here, the Oakville Blue Devils, who compete in the Canadian Soccer League. The Oakville Ice is another professional team that plays in the NWHL.
